Patagonia River Guides is your full-service outfitter in the San Martin and Junin de los Andes areas!  Enjoy great service, new equipment, first class lodges and delicious food.  At PRG North we have a philosophy of fishing the best rivers at the best times with the best guides, which is followed closely by program director, Alex Knüll, and his team.  Enjoy some of Patagonia's best waters (many of them private) and the Argentine lifestyle and culture at its best.  Guests normally stay on large flyfishing ranches (called Estancias), and reservations normally need to be made well in advance to get into the best ones.  In addition to visiting area estancias, PRG North also hosts guests in and around the charming town of San Martin de los Andes for those that want to experience a little bit more of the local culture.  And for those that are a little more adventurous, PRG North offers multi-day camping trips on wilderness rivers, which is an experience that is hard to beat.  Contact us today for more information and to create a custom itinerary for the Argentina flyfishing trip of your dreams.

Fish Inspiring Waters

Why would you choose to fish in San Martin de los Andes?  San Martin de los Andes offers some of the best dry fly fishing in the country and that's our specialty!  The area is also the most recognized flyfishing destination in all of Argentine Patagonia.  Follow in the footsteps of Joe Brooks, Ernie Schwiebert, Roderick Haig Brown, and Mel Kreiger, and fish rivers such as:  Chimehuin, Malleo, Collon Cura, Caleufu, Limay, Alumine and Traful.  In addition to these amazing rivers, there are many smaller freestone streams, spring creeks, and scenic lakes with interesting fishing.  Every river is special and offers a wide variety of water and ability to both wade fish and float fish (from drift boats).  When it is possible, we like to to fish a different river daily, and when staying at private estancias, the rivers are broken into "beats" ensuring miles of private water to explore and fish throughout the stay.  Guests fishing with PRG North enjoy matching the hatch with dry flies, exciting terrestrial fishing, challenging sight fishing, as well as "prospecting" from a drift boat and stripping steamers for the fish of a lifetime.

PRG North has access to the Best Flyfishing Estancias in Argentina

One of the most attractive offerings of the PRG North experience and what sets it apart from other PRG programs is the ability to choose from several world-renown lodges and estancias.   Unlike fishing from our exclusive lodges in the Esquel and Rio Pico Regions, guests travel with their guides and enjoy staying on large estancias and fishing their private water.  PRG North provides custom itineraries for each trip, and guests can choose from lodges like Arroyo Verde, on the Traful River, once called, "The best lodge in the world, period!" by Charles Gaines, or Tipiliuke Lodge on the Estancia Cerro de los Pinos, which many consider to be the finest flyfishing lodge in South America.  Choices also include Estancia San Huberto on the Malleo River, which just so happens to be one of the most exclusive venues in the country; the massive 200,000 acre Estancia Quemquemtreu on the Collón Cura River; and the stunning Estancia Tres Lagos completely surrounded by Lanin National Park .

The PRG Difference

We didn't discover the area or flyfishing in the area.  Instead, we are applying our many years of experience, knowledge and attention to detail on custom trips in the area.  Alex and his team of talented guides (each with an experienced assistant) have the best and newest equipment available to succeed in fulfilling guests expectations.  PRG provides everything at one price--no add ons or extra costs--including:  Lodging, food, beverage, license, guides, transportation and any necessary fishing equipment (flies, leaders, tippet, Simms waders and boots, Winston rods and Hatch reels).  Apart from being the best-equipped outfitter in the region, PRG provides and demands the best in service and attention from their staff and lodges.  We have experienced travel agents to assist you with every step of your travel (at no extra cost), and we personally make every reservation and communicate with every guest to ensure that the booking process and travel are as efficient and enjoyable as possible.  And finally, because we host every trip, you won't get sold what we can't deliver.  That's a promise!
