San Martin & Junin de los Andes Area
PRG North is the newest addition to the PRG portfolio of Patagonia fly fishing programs offering fishing in the renowned San Martin de los Andes region. Northern Patagonia fly fishing offers one of the most diverse river systems in all of Patagonia and without a doubt the best dry fly fishing because the waters are rich with bug life. Like all of PRG’s signature programs, PRG North provides the finest equipment, gear, tackle, guides, and service that have set us apart for more than ten years, and PRG North has talented professional guides to host each adventure.
Incredible rivers such as the ChimehuÃn, Aluminé, Collón Cura, Limay, and Malleo offer guests some of the finest fishing in all of South America. Classic hatches of mayflies, caddis, and stoneflies are prevalent, and other phenomenons such as world-renowned minnow runs, unique pancora crabs, and unforgettable willow worms “hatch” at distinct times of the season. Hundreds of miles of productive rivers and wide-open spaces await, and guests can choose to float and fish from PRG North’s RO drift boats or wade fish on private access. Drives can be as short as five minutes and guests can often return to the lodge for lunch and a short break before fishing the evening hatch.
PRG North offers classic stays at area estancias and combing two or more is highly recommended. In addition PRG’s signature – fish a different river daily – program is possible from select estancias. Every PRG North trip is custom designed based on guest’s desires for accommodation, fishing choices, and skill level. Trips as short as three days fishing are possible from November 1st to June 1st and any estancia stay can be combined with unique wilderness camp trips better known as PRG Unplugged.

Floating Experience
The catalog of float fishing opportunities we have in Northern Patagonia are arguably the best in the world. Famous rivers such as the Chimehuin, Collon Cura, Limay and Alumine are all available to float. Each river has it’s own differences which caters to what the angler is looking for. A minnow run on the Collon Cura produces incredible streamer fishing for big trout. Throwing huge dries for huge brown trout on the Limay is another popular option (check out our Unplugged Program). Regardless, we have you covered with comfortable and spatious RO Drift Boats and our lineup of professional guides to put you on the fish.
“Some of the best dry fly fishing in the world.”

Cultural + Non-Angling Experience
Northern Patagonia is exremely rich in culture. The San Martin and Junin de los Andes region is surrounded by countless estancias that are massive in size. Many of the fishing lodges within the program are located on these estancias. Guests have a variety of options when it comes to non-angling expereinces. Horseback riding, hiking, birdwatching, mountain biking, yoga and tango dancing are just a few on the list. We can even arrange a helicopter tour for the adventure seekers. And of course, there are always plenty of chances to experience the incredible culture of Argentina by watching Gauchos tend to their daily obligations. If you are lucky, you might even stumble across a game of polo.
